Making a road trip in Morocco is an adventure and an experience you’ll not easily forget. One of the things that makes this adventure so unforgettable is staying in one of the most awesome hotels in Morocco or joining a glamping experience in the Moroccan Desert.

The best thing is that the prices for most accommodations are very affordable, I paid an average of €50 per night and in this article, you’ll find the best hotels in Morocco from €20 to €150 per night

During my trip, I was able to stay in a luxury Riads in Marrakech, a local guesthouse in Chefchaouen and I slept under the stars in the Sahara Desert Luxury Camp.

As there are so many options to choose from, I made this list with the best places to stay that I personally believe are the best and will make your vacation unforgettable.

The best hotels in Morocco

The best hotels & riads in Fes

Fes is by far one of the most vibrant cities in Morocco, especially the Medina. You can wander around for days and still haven’t seen everything. That is why I recommend staying 3 nights and soaking up the authentic culture and all the colours of the Medina

Inside the Medina are hundreds of amazing riads to stay with prices ranging from €10 to € 200 per night, so here are my recommendations of the best riads in Fes.

I stayed at Riad Anata, which is owned by an amazing Belgian woman and we couldn’t wish for a better place to stay!

The best hotels in Chefchaouen

Chefchaouen also known as the blue city is a must-visit on your trip. This mountain city is perfect to get lost in the beautiful blue-painted alleys and making some insta-worthy photos.

The city is not very big so you can explore the highlights in 1 day, however, 2 nights here gives you more time to watch the sunset and sunrise from different viewpoints around the city such as the Spanish Mosque or the many rooftop bars.

Best hotels in Midelt

Midelt is not really a special place, although there are some beautiful views along the way from Fez or Chefchaouen. I used Midelt as a stopover place before heading to the Sahara Desert in Merzouga.

Riad Villa Midelt and Villa Pomme D’or have a pool that is perfect to relax after to long drive and during hot summer days.

The best hotels in Ouarzazate

Ouarzazate is the getaway to visit the UNESCO Heritage site of Ben Ait Haddou and the many movies that are recorded around this area such as Gladiator and some scenes of Game Of Thrones.

Depending on the time that you arrive in Ouarzazate, I recommend staying 1 night so you have enough time to visit the film studios and the Ksar of Ben Ait Haddou.

The best hotels & Riads in Marrakech

Located just a few hours from Europe, Marrakech is the perfect city for a romantic weekend getaway, a bachelor party or just exploring the Moroccan culture and it’s many beautiful sightseeing places.

Most riads in Marrakech are located in the Medina, which is the perfect location to wander around and you don’t need to worry about transport as most sights are within walking distance.

I would recommend staying 2 to 3 nights to visit Marrakech, however, if you plan to join a camping in Sahara Desert experience you need a few days more.

Desert camping in Morocco

One of the most unique experiences in Morocco is sleeping under the stars in the Sahara Desert. While most Desert camps are located in Merzouga, you can also find beautiful glamping near Marrakech such as the Selina Agafay Camp.

However, if you plan to stay in the Erg Chebbi desert near Merzouga, I highly recommend staying at Sahara Desert Luxury Camp.

The best hotels in Agadir

Agadir is the place to be if you like surfing or just relaxing at the beach. with many hotels, restaurants, and shops it is also the perfect location to end your busy road trip and enjoy the beautiful sunsets.

There are many options from cheap hostels to luxury glamping in the Sahara Desert, which was one of the best experiences I did during my road trip in Morocco.

With this article, you will find definitely some great places for your trip and if you already stayed at a place I recommended or you have a nice recommendation that is not on this list, feel free to share it with me in the comments.

The camera gear I used for this trip

I never go out without my camera and many people ask me which gear I use. So to make it quite easy, I listed all the gear I used for this trip below.

Most of the time, I travel with the Sony A7III and the Sony 24-105mm/f4 as my primary lens but depending on the location, I change to another setup. However, I love the Tamron 17-28 to shoot in the big cities.
