The best hotels in Egypt
Best hotels in Cairo
As the largest city in Africa, it can be overwhelming to find the best places to stay in Cairo. Although, the majority of the luxury hotels are situated along the Nile River and besides the comfort of luxury, these hotels also have breathtaking views of the river.
If you want to visit the Museum of Egypt, discover the hidden gems of the city or have dinner in one of the many amazing restaurants, then the following places to stay in Cairo might be good options for you.
However, to explore the Pyramids of Giza, I would recommend staying in Giza, which is located next to Cairo and often mistaken as part of Cairo.
Best hotels in Giza
Giza is located next to Cairo and not part of the city of Cairo, however, to visit the Pyramids and the Great Sphinx this is the best place to stay. It will also feel like you are going back in time as donkeys and carriages are still strolling through the dusty streets.
Many hotels are situated around the gates of the Pyramids and offer stunning views from their rooftop and if you are lucky you might have the chance to admire the light show on the Pyramids.
Best hotels in Luxor
Luxor is one of the most beautiful places in the country and it should be on your Egypt Itinerary. However, finding out where to stay in Luxor might be difficult as the Nile River separates the city in two.
Most of the highlights and also the best places to stay in Luxor are located on the West Banks of the Nile River, while the actual city of Luxor is located on the East Banks.
To get the most out of this fascinating location, plan to stay here for a few days and explore all the amazing temples of Luxor.
TIP: to get to the West Banks you’ll need to take a small boat or drive around over the bridge which takes about 35 min extra.
Best hotels in Aswan
Aswan is the getaway to some of the best places to visit in Egypt such as the Philae Temple, Nubian Villages or Abu Simbel, which is located about 3 hours driving through the desert.
It is well worth staying here for a few days and exploring the many sights around the city before you head back from Aswan to Luxor by train or join a Nile River cruise to Luxor.
Best places to stay in Hurghada
The Red Sea is known as one of the best places in the world for scuba diving and at the end of my Itinerary, I stayed about a week at a resort in Hurghada to relax and discover the beauty of the Red Sea.
I listed down some of the best places to stay in Hurghada, where you can spend a week or longer and do some amazing activities such as quad biking, desert safaris or snorkelling around the nearby island of Giftun.
The best hotels in Sharm El Sheik
Sharm El Sheik is one of the places with the best beaches and most people come here to snorkel or scuba dive as the coral is probably the most colourful you’ve ever seen.
You can easily spend a week in a resort in Sharm El Sheik and do some fun things or visit the nearby laidback town of Dahab where you can stroll around the promenade and the many souvenir shops.
Here are some of the best places to stay in Sharm El Sheik
Egypt is the ultimate destination for a beach holiday or a unique adventure through the country’s rich history along the Nile River. I hope this article will help you to find the best options on where to stay in Egypt.

The camera gear I used for this trip
I never go out without my camera and many people ask me which gear I use. So to make it quite easy, I listed all the gear I used for this trip below.
Most of the time, I travel with the Sony A7III and the Sony 24-105mm/f4 as my primary lens but depending on the location, I change to another setup. However, I love the Tamron 17-28 to shoot in the big cities.
